A city full of beautiful places- Barcelona🌴
Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to. Walking her streets and visiting its various corners always gave me a lot of joy and pleasure. I have been there more than 5 times and I still claim that it was too little to see all the beautiful spots there. But in this post I will only show you the parts where I had the opportunity to be. Let's get started!
You probably already guess what was the first point of sightseeing. Of course, the Sagrada Familia which is an Art Nouveau church. The construction of the temple began in 1882. Initially, its project was carried out by one architect, but unfortunately as it turned out later he came into conflict with the association financing this construction. So Antoni Gaudí was commissioned to finish the temple, but he was the one that completely changed its design, giving it his own style. Over the next four decades, he worked intensively on the structure, devoting it entirely to his last 15 years of life. Sadly, Gaudí did not finish his work during his lifetime. To this day people are building it which is implemented thanks to voluntary donations of society and admission tickets. The temple is one of the most visited place in Barcelona, and as you can guess, it was very hard to take a picture with it...
Another spot that occupies one of the first places on the tourists' wish list is Park Güell. This is one of the most characteristic works of the famous architect Antonio Gaudí in Barcelona. The park is very large and it takes a lot of time and energy to explore it all. It's surrounded by a wall made of irregularly shaped stones and consists of many fragments of greenery, winding paths, bridges and stairs. Despite the many trees it's easy to find observation decks from which we can see most of beautiful Barcelona. We can also find there the house where Gaudí lived before he moved near the Sagrada Familia, which now functions as the artist's museum. Interestingly, in 1984 the park along with other Gaudí works was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Being in Barcelona it is also worth seeing the Triumphal Arch which was built in 1888 on the occasion of the world exhibition that was then organized in this city. Its height reaches 30 meters. Behind it, there is a wide promenade which is surrounded by palm trees. It's a popular place for various street artists. When I was, I met people who made soap bubbles. I have to admit that they added even more charm to all that view. The triumphal arch is located in a busy part of the city, where in the summer a lot of tourists visit it and it's also almost impossible to take a picture on its background without any people behind you, haha.
There are many more beautiful places but the last I will share with you is the Parc de la Ciutadella. The focal point of the park is the magnificent cascade- Font de la Cascada. Interestingly, the outstanding Antonio Gaudí took part in its design. The main motif of the object is a statue of the goddess Venus. Very often, various types of events take place around the cascade- concerts, exhibitions or fairs. Visiting it you can see the garden and zoological museum, go boating or organize a picnic with friends. Among the regulars of the park you can meet many tourists, but also the residents of Barcelona who come there to relax or sit on the grass with a good book.
