June, last month! 😼

Image
Ayy, time flies by so quickly without us knowing it. I remember when I was starting my studies, new university, new professors, new friends. And in a month it will be a year since I study in PoznaΕ„. The whole second half of the year at Uni was tough, and I feel that the last month will be even worse.  We've already been told about all the exams. I'm terribly afraid, because of the whole virus stuff and online classes I don't feel prepared at all. I think that each of us tries to cope with this situation somehow, but the amount of work that we have is incredibly large. I hope that the professors will be quite lenient with us, and we, as students- we will do our best to pass all of the exams.  In any case, I'm counting down the days to vacation! I feel a bit depressed because I was supposed to go to Spain for 3 months, but because of this virus stuff it probably won't be possible. I'm only comforted by the fact that the borders will be open and I will be able to g

No more eating meat?! 🧐

Image
In recent weeks I have been thinking a lot about eating meat. I never thought deeper about it because my family had always eaten meat and as far as I know no one was ever a vegan or vegetarian. But I started to read more about it, watched various movies on the subject and began to limit the consumption of meat.  After watching all these films, after seeing how animals are treated and in what conditions they are kept before being delivered to the shelves of stores, I almost vomited. In fact, when I ate meat, I never thought about it and I think that many of you don't pay attention to it either. But believe me, after all I saw, you would also change your mind, if only a bit. Of course, I don't want to persuade anyone here at this place, all the more so that you give up eating meat because I think it's an individual matter. But sometimes it's worth watching videos that show how everything we eat (in this case animals) is treated and in what conditions prepared before being

Denim dayπŸ‘–

Image
In today's post I would like to talk about an event that always takes place on April 29 each year. Maybe some of you already know it or associate it, but I personally haven't heard of it before and I regret it! This event is called "Denim day" and its goal is to encourage a million people around the world to wear jeans on this day, to support survivors and to raise awareness of rape and sexual assault.  I was very interested in the history of this event and started looking for information on this topic. After reading a few sentences of one of the articles I was shocked. So the story began in the 1990s in Italy when a 45-year-old driving instructor took an 18-year-old girl on her first driving lesson. He took her to an isolated road, pulled her out of the car, then pulled her jeans off and forcefully raped her. At first, after reporting the rape, the perpetrator was arrested and prosecuted. However, a few years later he decided to appeal the sentence, claiming that the

In these hard moments for us, where we have limited possibilities and traveling is impossible, we can get carried away by fantasy and start planning next trips! As you probably already know, I am a great lover of travel and everything related to it. So sitting at home unfortunately doesn't help me at all. But there are also positive sides, I can sit down calmly, think about everything and start planning next trips. Today I will tell you about one of my biggest "dream destinations".  Nature, nature and again nature! I know, it's everywhere, but I associate it with this place even more. Bali . For the first time I found out about the existence of this beautiful island from photos that presented the beautiful views and power of our mother nature. I can say that it was such love at first sight. Later, as it turned out, I realized that one of my favorite models is from Bali. So thanks to her and her instagram publications I was able to get to know this place more. I have t

Tiny toones! 🀸

Image
Last week I heard for the first time about the cool project "El sistema" in Venezuela, which aims to promote human opportunity and development for impoverished children. Today, watching TV, I found out about another great project, maybe less known, but also helping a large number of community. Its name is Tiny Toones which uses break-dance and the culture of hip-hop to engage, inspire and educate young people from some of Cambodia's most impoverished neighbourhoods.  Interesting is also the story of the founder of this project- Tuy Sobil (aka "KK") born in Thai refugee camps. He grew up in Los Angeles, where he joined the gang and was later sentenced to several years in prison for armed robbery. After serving his sentence, he was deported to a completely unknown place- Cambodia. This place completely changed his life and made him become a completely different person. The project involves kids and encourages them to attend its dance classes. However, there are ce

Support local business! πŸ’Ό

Quarantine continues, the virus doesn't leave us and state economies are getting closer to collapse. Not only the economy suffers from this, but also people who have started to lose their jobs massively. So this is a difficult, but also important time for us as a society, in which we have to unite and face the problem. What can we do to help improve this state of affairs and support our economy?  So one of the most crucial and obvious steps we need to take is to support local brands and products. When purchasing any product, we should check on the label where the product was made. If it wasn't made in Poland, the best we can do is to find another one from local places. Instead of going to the supermarket and buying fruit imported from abroad, we can go to a small shop where it's sold by Polish producers. What's more, the important thing is to be aware that imported products must be able to survive the transport route until being delivered to a given country

Healthy lifestyle?! πŸ’ͺ

Image
I wrote recently about the changes that I want to make in my life, I decided that one of them will also be healthy food! Healthy eating has never been my strong side, but now I am fully motivated. One of my motivations is my mother who recently started her diet. The fact is that the diet she has, is to lose weight. I don't feel such a need and don't think that I have to lose any additional kilos, but I want to start eating healthy, at fixed times and not snacking sweet. With snacking sweets it will be hard because I'm addicted to them (who doesn't love sweets?!), but I will try to change them for some nice, healthy snacks! In addition to healthy eating, sleep and daily exercise are important. Sleep promotes the regeneration of our body, thanks to the right amount of sleep, we wake up in the morning rested, with new energy to work. On hard and full of work days it is difficult to get enough sleep, but we have to try to make it sufficient for our organism. I have

Living with cats 🐱

Image
Have you ever wondered what your life would look like without animals? I personally don't, I can't imagine my life without my beloved creatures! Ever since I can remember, there have always been animals: dogs, cats, parrots in my house. For some time there are only cats! Most of them are strays. And it doesn't bother me at all, I'm not sorry at all for not having a purebred cat, nothing of the sort! I am even happier living with the thought that I have helped them and as I can notice they are very grateful.  I found one of them hit and abandoned on the road. He was in a very bad condition and unfortunately one paw could not be saved. It had to be amputated, but luckily the cat itself was saved and I can't imagine my life without her now. They give me and my family a lot of happiness (sometimes they go crazy obviously), but I'm sure the house would not be the same without them!

The role of music in our lives 🎧

Image
Today's post will be about music! In one of my first blog entries, I've already mentioned some of my favorite artists, but now I would like to refer to what music means to us. It is said that it has a huge impact on human mood, which I completely agree with. We, listeners intuitively select songs that are right for us at a given moment. The felt level of energy and well-being decide that we choose to listen to specific music that helps to release our desired emotional state. Music largely affect the human psyche, thanks to which we feel its impact on our mood. What's more, the emotional state in which we find ourselves choosing a song is also important, because we always want it to harmonize with our mood at the moment. Music is more than song, melody and words. It's also people and memories. I don't know about you, but I don't have many songs that I wouldn't associate with people or events from the past. Every time I turn on some, I immediately remi

Trying to create new habits πŸ‘€

Image
Because of all this coronavirus, I have so much time to think (probably too much) that I decided to look a little bit more at my habits. I am a person who doesn't adapt easily to change so it's always difficult to wean me from some things. As now I have found motivation to act, I want to try to get used myself and my body to new wonts in small steps. At the beginning it will be difficult, but I'm very curious if I am able to change anything. For sure I will let you know how everything goes.  I decided that one of my resolutions would be doing sports. I used to like running in the forest, but the current situation doesn't allow it. However, it doesn't bother me, because I can always do some exercises at home. It is said that it's better to exercise in the morning after waking up, but I will be doing it in the evenings. My another bad habit is taking a nap during the day. I'm not sure exactly what it results from, however, even when I sleep 8 hour

What's wrong with our planet? πŸ‘½

Hey, today I would like to share with you what I saw recently, it was weird. So, about 3 days ago I was browsing Instagram (I always do it before bedtime, I read news or some interesting texts posted by people) and I came across Instagram Stories of one of the Spanish actors. He shared various videos that followers had sent him. In the videos you could see some strange objects moving in the sky and forming a strange cloud of smoke around them. Some of them changed colors, some were larger and the other smaller. At first I thought it was a joke or photomontage (nowadays people are capable of everything) but the videos were real, moreover, those weird objects were visible from different parts of the world, including Spain, Italy and Colombia.  The day before yesterday he also published some films that followers had sent him, this time the recordings were accompanied by strange and loud sounds. The first time I heard it I couldn't believe it. It was so so so loud and weird th

45 RPM! 🎸

Image
Hello everyone! How's going your quarantine days? I hope that you're good, that you try to be positive and use this "free" time in an entertaining way. Why free in quotation marks? Because as you know, we don't have much free time. Since we have online classes I feel like the professors give us even more homework to do than normal. But what can we do... Nothing. Such a student life.  However, from all this learning stuff and lots of tasks to do, you can take a day of break and use it to relax or watch some cool movies or series. Today I would like to recommend you one of the best TV series that I've ever seen. This is of course a Spanish production, in general I have to admit that I like Spanish films and series. The title is "45 RPM". The action takes place in Madrid in the 1960s. The main plot concerns the founding of a rock&roll label by a producer Guillermo Rojas with the help of the guy who begin his singer's career and a girl who u

Are u afraid?

I don't know about u, but I'm really scared and I'm afraid that all this will last longer than a month or two. I'm not ready for it mentally yet, to be sitting all days at home, the more that the government over time introduces more and more restrictions on leaving the house. The only thing that comforts me is that I can spend more time with my parents now. On the other hand, I can't visit, or rather I try to avoid contact with my grandmothers, because I know that even unknowingly I could infect them. It's a very hard time, but fortunately we have phones, so at least in this way I can talk with them.  Generally speaking, I'm afraid and I know that it's not just me but most of us. I'm afraid that it will last a long time. Each of us had so many plans, in my case it was a trip to Spain, but in the meantime there could be another ones (as I mentioned, I love travelling). Now everything is so uncertain, it's not known when will come the end of t

#stayathome 🏑

As I've already written in the previous post, we live in the era of coronavirus. Due to bans and restrictions imposed by the state, we are forced to stay at home. Some think it's good, others the opposite. Personally, I'm the one in between. In the "free time" that we have now a lot, we can finally slow down and move away from this daily race. This is the period when each of us should sit down, think about some things and, above all, do something for ourselves. On the other hand, due to the closure of universities, it's very likely that we will have to catch up on a later date. It's a matter that makes me feel worried because at the beginning of July I am going to work to Spain. I hope that the situation will improve and I will be able to go without any problem. In today's post I also want to share with you ideas referring to what you can do at home during quarantine. I don't know if you have already heard or seen on Facebook or Instagram h

The end of the world? 😷

Image
Currently, the whole world lives with only one terrifying subject, which is coronavirus. For some it's already a very boring and hackneyed issue, because how much can you hear about this one and the same, on the radio and on TV... But let's be honest... None of us probably thought that the virus from China would come to Europe and would begin to spread rapidly. At first I was calm because the virus was present in distant countries, far away from Poland. But unfortunately, over time, it began to appear in ever closer places, until it reached us.  Everything would be quite good if the countrymen of each country became more responsible. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of the fact that without being sick or having symptoms there is a possibility of being a carrier of the disease. People who traveled from China to Europe some time ago didn't exercise this caution and the situation now looks like it looks. And I'm very sorry about that (I think not only me) beca

Fear of death πŸ’€

Image
Have you ever wondered what your death will look like or what awaits you when it happens? Does exist an afterlife? Is there another world somewhere? Ordinary people don't think about it in their daily routine, but there are also those who can't stop doing it. For this reason, arose the concept of thanatophobia, which is used as a name of the fear of death.  As I've already mentioned, many of us don't think about when our existence on earth will end. However people with thanatophobia do it and because of thinking about it excessively, they introduce anxiety into their lives. None of us likes to live in constant worry and fear of various things, situations and even more so of something unknown. So imagine what people with this disease experience (I think we can call it some kind of defect), often and maybe every day thinking about how they will die and when it will happen. It must be very bothersome for them and I guess that most of them feel powerless at these m

Carnival in Brazil 🎭

Image
Each of us knows or has ever heard of the famous, colorful carnival in Brazil. I think so, because who doesn't?! The carnival is the largest folk festival there, which is held four days before Ash Wednesday and gives rise to Lent. It takes place every year on the streets of Rio de Janeiro and at least 2 million people come to see it.  An interesting thing is that initially from the 15th century the event was in Portugal, and later was transferred to Brazil, which is the portugal colony. It included all street events that often ended in fights, people threw eggs or other things at themselves. Since 1932, the carnival is considered fully legal and sanctioned by the authorities. Nowadays, the carnival parades take place all over Rio de Janeiro and take various forms. The streets are filled to the brim with dancers dressed in vivid and shiny costumes, dancing samba. It is worth mentioning that these dancers represent other samba schools and go through these colorful procession

Corrida de toros πŸƒ

Image
With today's post we will return to Spanish culture again. So what exactly is Corrida de toros ? This is a traditional bull fight and for sure most people associate Spain with this spectacle.  It is difficult to point out who actually started the custom of public fighting people with bulls. It is known, however, that this is one of the oldest shows in the world that takes place to this day. It is said that it has its roots in ancient times, and even goes back to the Bronze Age.  The bullfighting season lasts in Spain from March to October. Some regions deviate from this tradition. An example is Catalonia where according to a resolution of the autonomous parliament, public bullfighting is prohibited. However, the fate of the "corrida" in the rest of Spain (especially in Andalusia and the center of the country) seems not to be at risk. Currently, it is practiced in a similar form in many Latin American countries, Portugal and southern France. Bullring arenas
